A Bright Future: Dreaming Bigger with God at First Baptist Church Mascoutah
As Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Mascoutah (FBCM), I'm thrilled to share this vision for our church's bright future. Located in Mascoutah, Illinois, near Scott Air Force Base, FBCM is a welcoming Baptist church dedicated to helping families find and follow Jesus. If you're searching for a "church near Scott Air Force Base" or a "military family ministry in Mascoutah," you've found a spiritual home away from home where faith grows and community thrives. Drawing from Ephesians 3:20-21, where God promises to do far more abundantly than we can ask or imagine, let's explore how we're dreaming bigger with God during this exciting season of our church.
Honoring Our Legacy While Embracing Growth
First Baptist Church Mascoutah has a storied history as a cornerstone of Christian community in Mascoutah. For generations, our congregation has faithfully served through ministries like the Lighthouse Preschool and Oasis community meals, fostering family ministry and outreach. Positioned for sustainable church growth in Mascoutah, we're not discarding our past; we're building on it.
Our Strategic Outreach to Military Families
Proximity to Scott Air Force Base makes FBCM uniquely equipped for military family ministry. As a 28-year U.S. Air Force veteran, I understand the challenges of deployments, relocations, and military life. That's why FBCM is committed to being a "spiritual home away from home" for service members and their families. Imagine Sundays filled with service members, spouses, and children discovering hope through our evangelistic focus and disciple-making pathways. This isn't just attendance growth—it's eternal impact, aligning with the Great Commission to make disciples in our community.
Stepping to the Edge of Yikes: Where Faith Meets Purpose
At the heart of our vision is the "Edge of Yikes"—that thrilling space where comfort ends and God-sized dreams begin. Inspired by Bob Goff's Dream Big and my own journey, this concept challenges us to rely on God's power. As a young man, I ran from a ministry calling, enlisting in the Air Force to escape. Twenty-eight years later, facing the question, "What if God doesn't want to use me anymore?" I stepped forward. God rewrites stories, turning past failures into testimonies for His glory. Our Christmas meal partnership which I was hesitant at first, I shared the idea, and 50 volunteers emerged. Now, it serves nearly 1,000 meals annually, showcasing God's power at work within ordinary people.
Carrie and I embody this too. She left a great paying job and career for our God-driven family vision, and I traded Air Force comforts—like trips to Maui and Rome—for a calling planted in 1984. Now, committing to First Baptist Church Mascoutah, we're inviting you to join us. Whether leading a ConneXion group, volunteering at Oasis, or inviting a military family, your "yes" builds a legacy. As Ephesians 3:21 declares, this glory unfolds "in the church... throughout all generations." Future believers will say, "Look what God did through that Mascoutah church!"
