MILITARY AT SCOTT AFB WELCOME

YOUR SPIRITUAL HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Hey, Warrior / Spouse / Veteran.

I’ve PCS’d with toddlers and teenagers, deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom, stood duty on Christmas (and every other holiday), and helped Airmen navigate everything from suicidal ideations to promotion boards.

Two of my many assignments brought my family right here to Scott AFB. My final set of orders came last year when God wanted us in Mascoutah. That reason is now crystal clear: He wanted a church that understands military life from the inside out — a place where you don’t have to translate your story or pretend the mission doesn’t pull you in twelve directions.

At First Baptist Church Mascoutah, military families aren’t a “ministry focus group.” You’re family. Period.

Here’s what that looks like in real life: We get the chaos

  • Last-minute TDYs, alert recalls, and 3 a.m. phone calls? Been there.

  • Kids asking “When is Daddy/Mommy coming home?” We’ve cried those tears too.

We speak the language
You’ll hear “sponsor,” “OPSEC,” “TDY,” and “PCS” used correctly and often — usually followed by laughter and prayer.

One service at 10:45 AM means you can actually sleep in after a mid-shift. if you want deeper study, ConneXion Groups at 9:15 are the answer.

We walk with you through every season of service

  • Pre-deployment briefings and prayer covering

  • Care packages and Saturday packing parties while you’re gone

  • Homecoming meals, and a church full of people cheering louder than an airshow crowd when you walk back through the doors

  • Reintegration small groups (because coming home is harder than leaving sometimes)

We fight for your marriage and your kids

  • Date-night childcare swaps

  • Mentoring from couples who’ve survived 20+ years of Air Force marriage

Ronnie Tabor proudly served 28 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 2019 at the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

My personal promise to every military member, spouse, and veteran who walks in our doors:

You will be known, prayed for by name, and loved like family — rank, component, or time-in-service completely irrelevant.
